He focuses on improving conservation of natural resources and enjoys spreading his knowledge to others. He is known as the "Padre of Padre Island", and has organized the local "The Big Shell Beach Clean Up" for 14 years. He has received the Conservation & Environmental Stewardship Award by the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation.
