In Tying Saltwater Flies, Meyer shows how to tie the Clouser Minnow, Bob's Banger, Surf Candy, MOE Fly, Bendback, Whistler, Crazy Charlie, and a handful of others. He also provides a brief review of vises, hooks, materials, pertinent tying tools and knots that are frequently used in saltwater fly tying.

Although there are plenty of books that make a broader or more detailed approach to saltwater fly tying, Meyer packs a lot of information into the scant 30 pages that make up Tying Saltwater Flies. There is very little wasted space in this book.

For each fly presented, Meyers provides a short history perspective along with tying tips and fly pattern variations. The tying steps and photos Meyers lays out for all 12 flies are clearly presented and easy to follow. This book would be a great choice for an angler who is starting to tie flies, or one with a minimal level of tying experience. Priced under ten dollars, Tying Saltwater Flies would also make a great gift for someone who is starting out.
